MSL MCT Advisory Council 2012–Day 2

PDT IT Services Blog Posts

Based on the agenda for day 2, I already knew upfront this would be a very interesting and important day in the AC week. Topics that were on the list:

- Future of Digital MOC Courseware

- Cloud Computing and how to be prepared as an MCT

- Fut, available ure of Microsoft technologies in consumerization of IT, and how it relates to MS Learning

- Beta MOC overview 2012-2013

- Certification Update review

Again all is under NDA, but I can give you some details Smile

Future of DMOC

- The idea is that the printed MOC will be phased out over time, and DMOC is the way to go forward; it will have built-in interaction functionalities between trainer/students and students/students; Live Sync functionalities for Always having the up-to-date version,…

- EPUB format

Cloud Computing

- This session walked through the process how to "move” IT Pro / Dev consultants into “Cloud consultants”. Updates on Cloud certification, cloud exams coming up, beta courses for system center for private cloud solutions coming up,…

Consumerization of IT

- This was the session I loved most; I had the chance to have a great and long discussion the evening before with Lutz Ziob, GM Microsoft Learning, so I knew his talk and vision and ideas would inspire me. And… it did!!

Some topics that came out during this 90 minute talk:

* Acceptance of IT in our day-to-day live

* Marvelous, complex technology for face/person/movement recognition (what device are we talking about???), at a “low cost” price

* “Big data will become the platform”

* Specific to MCT / MS Learning future vision

- Personalized learning i.o. general classroom training

- Competency based learning / Blended training

Beta MOC

- Beta MOCs will go live soon for SQL Denali 2012, System Center Config Manager,… in a few weeks; Beta MOC is available for CPLS’s and student at the normal cost of the MOC; release timeframe is estimated to be available when the technology is available. 3-6 months later, the “official MOC”’ should be available.

Certification Update Review

- A lot of things will change in the certification landscape. More exams will be required to become certified; more complex exams to make sure the quality of the certification goes up (again)

- 3-level oriented approach : Level 1 - Technologie Specialist / Level 2 – / Certified Professional / Level 3 – Master & Architect

Again, if anyone of you readers wants more details on any of the above topics, feel free to drop your questions. I’ll try to answer them as good as possible, by what is allowed according to NDA of course,

Stay tuned for the Day 3 story later on.

Cheers, Peter
