S-Q-L or Sequel?

SQLUG next meetingI remember more then a year ago a discussion during one of the first meetings of the SQLUG team a pretty hectic discussion on how to pronounce SQL.
To my great relief this discussion can now come to an end after reading this blogpost

quoting:

This has been a debate for as long as i've known.
How to pronounce SQL?  ess-cue-el or sequel?
Each one has it's own supporters. But only one is correct.
And the winner is (drum-roll here):

S-Q-L (ess-cue-el)

And how can i be so sure about that?
It's ANSI declared.

Read more about SQL Pronounciation history here.

in the meantime I can also announce the next meeting featuring Paul Randal from MSFT about Secrets of Fast Detection and Recovery from Database Corruptions, you can subscribe here, location is the Microsoft premises in Diegem-BXL

Well,

actually I'm using both.

Used the correct pronunciation most of the time, but I'm still hearing SQL Server as sequel server rather than ess-cue-el server...
