Hardware Requirements

The following are the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for System Center Capacity Planner:
  • Intel Pentium or compatible 1 GHz or faster processor
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 30 MB of available disk space on the drive on which you install System Center Capacity Planner
  • CD-ROM drive
  • XGA graphics adapter and monitor
Note
Only 16-bit color or higher is supported. Only 96 DPI is supported.

 

Supported Operating Systems

System Center Capacity Planner is supported on the following operating systems:
  • The Windows Vista Ultimate operating system
  • The Windows Vista Enterprise operating system
  • The Windows Vista Business operating system
  • The Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition operating system with Service Pack 2
  • The Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Editions operating system with Service Pack 2
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Editions
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Editions
  • The Windows XP Professional operating system with Service Pack 2
  • The Windows XP Professional x64 Edition operating system with Service Pack 2
All localized versions of the operating systems listed are supported except right-to-left language versions.

Software Prerequisites

System Center Capacity Planner requires the following software:

No Upgrade from Previous System Center Capacity Planner Versions

You cannot upgrade to System Center Capacity Planner 2007 from any previous version of System Center Capacity Planner. You must remove a previous version and reinstall the latest version. However, any custom hardware that you have defined in the Model Editor is preserved.

 

To uninstall a previous version of System Center Capacity Planner and reinstall
  1. If your computer runs an operating system other than Windows Vista, uninstall System Center Capacity Planner by using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
  2. If your computer runs Windows Vista, uninstall System Center Capacity Planner by using Programs and Features in Control Panel.
  3. If you have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (Beta or RC) installed on a computer with an operating system other than Windows Vista, remove it by using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
  4. If you have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (Beta or RC) installed on a computer running Windows Vista, remove it by using Programs and Features in Control Panel.
  5. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.
  6. Install System Center Capacity Planner by running Setup.exe.
